Important Note
If your child is going to be absent, leave early or arrive late, please contact the school office. Messages should be left in Mrs. Zaccaria’s mailbox at 630.773.0509 Ext. *836 only. Please do not text, email or verbally inform the teacher.
Parents: If you have not done so already, please bring in an extra change of clothing for your child to keep in their locker. Have the clothing in a clear zip lock bag with their name on the bag.
Prayer
As a school and staff, we’ve been talking a lot about prayer (Praise, Repent, Ask, and Yield); teaching the kids to pray for you, each other, and our school daily. We pray for you in our class devotions, staff devotions and when specific things come up. When situations arise good or bad in your life and you would like prayer, please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can help. We also ask that you pray for our school, teachers and pastors with your children.
Prayer is very powerful, and God hears and answers all our prayers.
Communication between school and home is very important, so please feel free to call, email, or send a note in your child’s folder whenever you have a question or concern. I’m looking forward to a productive, fun-filled school year!
Blessings,
Ms. Gibellina

Operation Christmas Child
This Christmas we are hoping to put smiles on more children’s faces with the help of all of you. Here at St. Luke we have shoeboxes ready to be filled. If anyone is interested in this opportunity, the shoeboxes are available by the parish office entrance. In each box there will be suggestions as to how to pack your gift box along with a label for boy or girl and their age group. There is also an envelope attached to the “How to Pack Your Shoebox Gift.” There is a $9.00 shipping fee that if paid online, you and your family can track the package and see exactly where it goes. If you want to just fill a shoebox and bring it back here, the Mission Society team will be happy to pay for the shipping charges. Please remember no perishable or liquid items including toothpaste can be sent. All shoeboxes have to be brought to our shipping location the week of November 16th so please drop your shoebox off by Sunday, November 15th. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Azak at pazak@sain tlukeitasca.org.
Important Information
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year. I hope you will find the following information helpful.
Backpack & Folder
Please send your child to school everyday with their folder in their backpack. We will be sending notes and the children’s work home via the folder, so please check it on a daily basis. The children’s folders are checked first thing each day of class, so you can send notes to school in the folder.
Newsletter
Each week I will send home a newsletter to give you a “Peek At Our Week”. This way you can follow along with our daily activities and monthly themes. It will also include homework assignments and upcoming school events.
Dismissal
We require a written note whenever your child will be leaving school differently from their normal routine.
Chapel
We attend Chapel on Wednesdays. Watch for a chapel offering envelope in your child’s folder on Tuesdays. Please write your child’s name on their envelope. This year, the chapel offerings will support Haiti, Comfort Dogs, St. Matthew's, Itasca Food Pantry, Swaddling Clothes and Young Knights. If you order a chapel shirt (optional) your child should wear it on Wednesdays.
Snack
We have snack time each day in Preschool. Due to the growing number of students in the Early Childhood classrooms with severe allergies to peanut and tree nuts, we feel we must have control of the snacks that are being served for the safety of the children. A snack fee was included in your registration fee that we will use to purchase the snacks for the Early Childhood classrooms for the school year. Milk is provided. Please let me know in writing if your child needs to have water instead of milk.
Playground Safety / P.E. Class
When the weather is nice we will be going outside on the playground. For the safety of the children, we ask that they wear gym shoes and socks. No sandals, please. On Mondays, the children will have P.E. in the gym. They will not be allowed to participate if they are not wearing gym shoes.
Mrs. Gibellina’s Webpage
The class newsletter and a list of important dates and events will be posted on my webpage each week. It is also a great place to find out what is going on in all the classrooms at Saint Luke and special events.
Absentees
If your child is going to be absent, you must contact the school office at 630.773.0509.
Extra Clothes
If you have not done so, please send a set of extra clothes to school for your child as soon as possible. Place the clothes in a large Ziploc bag labeled with your child’s name.
Birthdays
Your child will be assigned to bring a birthday treat on or close to their birthday. Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year. Special treats are allowed, but they must be purchased from the approved nut-free treat list that will be sent home. All birthday treats must be store bought. No homemade birthday treats are allowed. If your treat requires a spoon, please send enough for all the children in the class.

Spread the Word!!!
Two Little, Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes still have room! Afternoon spots available. Classes are from 12:00 pm- 3:00 pm. Please call the school office at 630.773.0509 for information on these amazing programs.
